Compliance Assurance Manager

This an independent contributor role that will provide shared-services support to companies of the Fintech Holdings Ltd (“Salmon”) Group and reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. The Salmon Group is a fast growing start-up in the financial services sector driven by successful and seasoned individuals seeking to promote financial inclusion in the Philippines.

As a Compliance Assurance Manager, you will own the planning and conduct of independent compliance assurance testing of identified risks for the Salmon Group entities’ business units/functions/branches as approved by the Chief Compliance Manager. You shall be directly responsible for implementing standards for testing methodologies, techniques, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the compliance assurance testing/review of operational units and branches within the Salmon Group;
  • Ensure compliance of Salmon Group entities’ business units/functions/branches with the applicable laws, regulations, and standards of internal and external regulators;
  • Conduct compliance testing and reviews and to track identified gaps until closed;
  • Escalate regulatory breaches to the Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Management in order that the appropriate action can be undertaken to rectify;
  • Produce and issue monitoring reports to both business units and senior management, relevant to compliance assurance testing, monitoring, and review.
  • Provide recommendations to the Salmon Group entities’ business units/functions/branches as to how to address identified gaps;
  • Manage the planned production, delivery, and completion of compliance monitoring plans;
  • Prepare the compliance assurance testing/review reports and presentations;
  • Keep abreast of the latest updates on relevant laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Test adequacy of controls in place within the business and identify potential and actual breaches;
  • Preparation of regulator packs (e.g., presentation, evidence of compliance) that are submitted to regulators.
  • Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning; ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.

Key Requirements
To succeed in this Compliance Assurance Manager role, you must have:

  • Integrity, flexibility, and people skills;
  • High motivation, results-oriented self-starter, proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and to deliver on time despite minimal supervision;
  • At least three (3) years of experience doing compliance, regulatory compliance, audit, risk management in a universal, commercial or thrift bank;
  • Proficiency and updated knowledge of financial regulations including those issued by the BSP and SEC;
  • At least three years of experience doing compliance testing, compliance review, or internal audit;
  • Experience in IT audit is a plus;
  • Excellent know-how of banking operations in a similar business position;
  • Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning; ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings; and
  • Fluent in English.
