What is cashback for Credit Line?

Cashback for Credit Line lets you earn back a portion of eligible purchases you make with your Salmon Credit Line. Cashback is earned automatically on eligible transactions. You can redeem or use this cashback in the Salmon app to pay or reduce your outstanding balance.

How cashback works

  • You earn 1% cashback automatically on eligible purchases made with your Credit Line using QRPh or your card.

  • Monthly cap: In each billing cycle, the maximum cashback you can earn is 1% of your monthly credit limit. For example, if your monthly credit limit is ₱30,000, your monthly cap would be ₱300

  • You are paid cashback in Philippine pesos (₱). Take note that the cashback you earn in a billing cycle can only be used after that billing cycle ends.

  • There is no lifetime limit on cashback, only the monthly cap. If you reach the monthly cap, you will see “Monthly cashback limit reached” in the app.

Which transactions do not earn cashback?

Whether a purchase earns cashback depends on the type of transaction and the type of merchant you buy from. Merchants are grouped by a standard code called a merchant category code (MCC). Think of MCC as the category of business where you made a transaction, such as a supermarket, a gas station, or a money transfer service.

Transactions that do not earn cashback include:

  • Financial services and money transfers, including e-wallets

  • Gambling, lottery, and betting

  • Cash-like transactions and cash withdrawals

  • Fees, interest, penalties, and adjustments

  • Refunded transactions, where cashback may be reversed

For the full details, check the list of non-eligible MCCs. In some cases, a merchant may be classified differently by their payment provider, and that can also affect whether a transaction is eligible.
