The journey of Salmon Group

Foundations

The first company out of what today forms Salmon Group traces its roots back to 1963 with the founding of the Rural Bank of Sta. Rosa (Laguna) by the Melencio family. Built on a foundations of community, integrity, and dedicated customer service, the bank has long been a trusted financial partner to the community.

Our Lending Companies

The two financing companies that are also forming today Salmon Group (Sunprime Financing Inc. and FHL Financing Inc.) have been established in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Sunprime Financing Inc. was created in 2019. On October 2, 2019 Sunprime received its Certification of Incorporation and Authority to Operate as a Financing Company from the SEC with the following credentials: (a) SEC Registration No.: CS201916698 and (b) Certificate of Authority (CA) No.: 1241. On October 7, 2019 Sunprime Finance Inc. amended its Articles of Incorporation to include online lending platform (“OLP”) named “LoanOnline” as one of its business name. On October 14, 2019, Sunprime Finance Inc. filed with the SEC its Affidavit of Compliance related to its OLPs including “LoanOnline” in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and before the deadline provided for by the SEC’s Memorandum Circular No. 19, Series of 2019 (SEC MC 19-2019) thus becoming a fully licensed OLP. The second financing company In Salmon Group, FHL Financing Company was formed in October 2022 and received its SEC registration with credential Reg. No. 2022100071291-07, C.A. F-22-0038-29.

Unifying Into Salmon Group Ltd.

In 2023, the bank and financing companies came together under a single shareholder umbrella—Salmon Group Ltd., marking a new chapter of growth and innovation. Salmon Group is supported by a group of world-class investors, including the International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group) and ADQ/Lunate, the sovereign wealth fund of Abu Dhabi. New shareholders injected more than PHP 4.3bn in the capital of Salmon Group. Key shareholders of Salmon Group received applicable approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as “fit and proper” for the Group to become controlling shareeholder of the bank. Similarly, on April 2, 2023 Sunprime Financing Inc. submitted its Affidavit of Compliance to amend its existing OLP “LoanOnline” as a result of the Amended Business Plan as supported by MC19.
