How does cashback work with Credit Line?
Cashback lets eligible customers earn back part of eligible purchases made with Salmon Credit Line.
Cashback is earned automatically. After it becomes available, you can redeem it in the Salmon app to reduce your outstanding Credit Line balance, which is the amount you still need to pay.
How cashback works
You earn 0.5% cashback on eligible purchases made with Credit Line using QR Ph or your card.
Monthly cashback cap
In each billing cycle, the most cashback you can earn is 0.5% of your monthly credit limit.
For example, if your monthly credit limit is ₱30,000, your cashback cap for that billing cycle is ₱150.
Cashback is earned in Philippine pesos. Cashback earned during your current billing cycle appears as Earned this cycle in the Salmon app. It becomes available to redeem after the billing cycle ends.
There is no total limit on how much cashback you can earn over time. The monthly cap still applies. When you reach it, the app displays Monthly cashback limit reached.
You can redeem available cashback manually in the Salmon app.
Cashback can only be used to reduce your outstanding Credit Line balance, including fees and interest. It cannot be:
- Withdrawn as cash
- Transferred to another account
- Used to pay for new purchases
You must have an outstanding balance to redeem cashback. You cannot redeem more cashback than the amount you need to pay.
Whether a purchase earns cashback depends on the category assigned to the merchant by its payment provider.
Payment providers use a standard merchant category code, or MCC, to identify the type of business where you made the transaction, such as a supermarket, gas station, or money transfer service.
Transactions that do not earn cashback include:
- Financial services, money transfers, and e-wallet top-ups
- Gambling, lottery, and betting transactions
- Cash withdrawals and other transactions treated like cash
- Fees, interest, penalties, and account adjustments
- Refunded purchases
For full details, check the list of non-eligible MCCs.
A merchant may be assigned a category that is different from its main type of business. The category provided by its payment provider determines whether the transaction earns cashback.
When a purchase is refunded, the cashback earned from that purchase is also reversed.
If the amount reversed is more than your available cashback, your cashback balance may temporarily become negative. Future cashback earnings will first cover this amount until your balance returns to ₱0.
Cashback does not currently expire.
Cashback rules, limits, and availability may change. Check your Credit Line agreement for the latest terms.
First, check whether:
- The purchase was made during your current billing cycle
- The transaction belongs to an eligible merchant category
- You have already reached your monthly cashback cap
- The purchase was refunded
If the transaction appears eligible but you still do not see any cashback, talk to Customer Service via in-app chat. We’ll help check what happened.
